Miss Me?

It's been quite a long time since I posted anything. Sorry about that. A busy semester + being pregnant + throwing up for 2 months straight + busy season at work + etc. = no blog updates. So here's a couple of pieces to take a gander at. Both untitled, the first is a pastel sketch I did a year or so ago. The second is a painting I did this last semester, oils, 48" x 36".

Some Like it Hot

Dad: "Why do you have signs above your sink?"
Me: "Because my water is backwards."
Dad: "Well why don't you just get under the sink and switch it?"
Me: "Because making signs is funner!"
Kim: "Duh."

Go Figure...

I took a figure drawing class this last spring and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Here's some of the things I did. And yes, the models are nude. You don't have to look if you don't want to. I won't make you.

UVU Student Show

I entered 3 pieces into the UVU Student Art Show this year, and I am pleased to say all 3 were accepted. I entered two paintings from this current spring semester and a NuPastel drawing I did last spring. Also, the teacup won a "Juror Top Choice Award" and $50. Yes please. And as a side note, I have decided to change the name of "Tea Party" to "Tea with Rosa."

Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.

I work at a theater. Not a movie theater, but the kind of theater that does plays and musicals. In a few weeks we will be opening Seussical the Musical, and it's going to be awesome. My boss asked me to do some "bright and colorful" Dr. Seuss inspired drawings that may be featured in our upcoming program. So I spent a couple of minutes on each of these and emailed them to my boss today. Also, coloring with crayon was fun. Maybe I will dedicate some sketchbook space to crayons.

First.

I thought I'd start with an artist that I think is AH-mazing. I discovered Amy Sol a couple of years ago and her art has been the wallpaper on my cell phone ever since. Love her muted color palette. Love her subject matter. Love her. Her art speaks for itself.
